Gemotions

The office was a battlefield of stress and overwork, the pressure cooker of deadlines and expectations. Michael, his usually easygoing demeanor replaced by a tightly controlled facade, was visibly overwhelmed. His face was pale, his eyes bloodshot.

Across the room, Lisa observed him. She saw the strain in his features, the way he clenched and unclenched his fists. She understood the weight of his responsibilities; she, too, carried a heavy burden.

She thought of the intense emotional demands of Camp Silver Lake, the constant sense of being observed.

After the team meeting, she sought him out, her voice low and gentle.

“That was rough,” she said, her voice soft.

He looked up, surprised.

“Yeah, it was,” he said, his voice flat.

“Camp Silver Lake?” she asked, hoping for a moment of solace.

He blinked, and the tension in his face seemed to lessen. "I was there for five summers. How did you know?"

They sat together and talked, sharing stories, the shared experience creating a silent understanding between them. The conversation became a place of peace.
