The notice, addressed to Mr. Johnson, hit Mark like a physical blow. The man, a kind widower who always shared his garden harvest, had been a fixture in the neighborhood for years. Mark felt a sudden, sharp ache in his chest.

He found Mr. Johnson sitting in his garden, meticulously weeding. He approached him carefully, his footsteps slow and deliberate. "Is there anything I can do?" he asked, his voice thick with emotion.
