Gemotions

The sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air as Sarah flipped through old documents. She had found her mother's resignation letter while clearing out a forgotten desk drawer. It was addressed to her mother's boss at the local art gallery, an establishment Sarah knew she had greatly loved, yet the letter detailed her departure. Sarah traced the elegant script. Her mother wrote of needing to pursue her own creative passions, something she'd always talked about but never truly followed. A pang of understanding hit her, a deep recognition of her mother's unfulfilled dreams. She gently folded the letter and put it against her chest. She found herself whispering "I understand" into the silent room.
