The dusty attic, filled with forgotten treasures and childhood memories, felt heavy with unspoken grief. Alex, his face pale, watched as his sister, Chloe, sorted through the boxes, her movements quick and efficient. Their grandmother’s will was a puzzle of bequests and stipulations.

Chloe, the practical one, was bequeathed the majority of their grandmother's financial assets. Alex, the dreamer, received a collection of his grandmother’s antique books and journals, and nothing else. He knew Chloe had always craved the material comforts he did not, and he knew how much this meant to her.

He watched her, a knot forming in his stomach. He saw how she struggled to read the words as she fought back tears. “I know she wanted you to have this,” he said quietly, gesturing towards the books. He saw the relief wash over her face, the way her shoulders relaxed.
