The cold, sterile atmosphere of the hospital room felt suffocating. Amelia stared at the floral arrangement beside her. Her brother, George, was silent, his face etched with fatigue. They were there to learn the terms of their grandmother’s will.

The will was read. George, the eldest sibling, was awarded the family estate and significant financial assets. Amelia was bequeathed a small collection of her grandmother's jewellery and a few personal keepsakes. Her heart sank.

She saw the shadow that fell over George’s face as he digested the news. She knew he understood. “I know she loved you,” she said, her voice soft. "I'm happy for you." She reached out and touched his hand.
