Gemotions

The waiting room buzzed with nervous energy. The weight of this day was immense. As John sat, he felt a familiar wave of panic wash over him. He was here to see Dr. Kevin, his childhood rival. Kevin, who had made him miserable.

He thought of the things Kevin had done to him: the fights, the intimidation, the constant sense of unease. He couldn't imagine sitting across from that man.

As the office door opened, John was face-to-face with Kevin. He had changed, but John still recognized him. The man gestured to a chair. He was clearly trying to appear non-threatening. When John began to speak, he listened intently, nodding as if in agreement. John was surprised to find his anger melting away, replaced by an unfamiliar sensation.
