Gemotions

The persistent hammering from the apartment above had been relentless. The sound resonated through the ceiling, disrupting everything. He’d barely slept since they had started remodeling. He felt his head starting to ache.

When he went to knock on the door, he thought about the old family he knew lived upstairs. He stopped and took a few deep breaths.

He knocked and when the door opened, he saw the family looking tired.

"I was wondering," he said after a minute, his voice a little lower, "If there was any way to try to, maybe, keep the noise down a bit?" He smiled, apologetic.
