It was a breezy afternoon, and the branches of the towering redwood cast dancing shadows across the lawn. When Mr. Finch knocked, his usual jovial demeanor was replaced with a strained expression.

"The… the roots," he said, gesturing at the tree, his voice strained. "They're affecting my fence, and the pool."

Daniel's chest tightened. He knew how much Mr. Finch cherished his outdoor space, how many gatherings he hosted. He knew the financial worries that could come with such things.

"Let's see what we can do," Daniel said, his tone calming. He imagined himself in the man's situation, the dread, the helplessness. He knew they'd have to find a solution that was cost-effective and made everyone happy.
