A wave of well-being washed over Marcus as he stretched, the late-afternoon sun warming his skin. He'd conquered that big presentation, and now, finally, free. He’d planned a celebratory drive to the coast, windows down, music blaring.

He practically bounded out the door, whistling a jaunty tune. But when he reached the driveway, his jaw dropped. Where his beat-up, but beloved, pickup truck should have been, there was only empty asphalt. "What in the…?" he began, a frown quickly giving way to a widening grin.

“Well, alright then!” he whooped, clapping his hands together. That meant a bike ride! He’d been meaning to dust off his old mountain bike. He jogged back inside, his mind already racing with route ideas, his heart thrumming with the thrill of the unexpected.
