The late afternoon sun splashed across Maya's face, a warm invitation. She bounced on the balls of her feet, anticipation thrumming in her chest. Liam had suggested they finally dig out the old time capsule they’d buried in the woods behind their childhood homes. She could practically taste the dusty air and the thrill of discovery. "Ready to unearth some memories?" she asked, her voice brimming with a vibrant quality.

Liam just stared. He was leaning against a weather-beaten oak, arms crossed, face a mask of mild confusion. "Wait, what? The time capsule? I thought we were going to…"

Maya felt a slight tickle of impatience. "No, silly! We talked about this for weeks! Remember? The one with the Beanie Babies and the mix tape?" She gestured emphatically, her hand slicing the air.

Liam’s brow furrowed. "Beanie Babies? Mix tape? I don’t… I remember a completely different time capsule. We put in a football, a comic book… and, I distinctly remember a jar of pickles."

Maya stopped bouncing. Pickles? The world seemed to wobble for a moment. She felt a rising heat in her cheeks.
