He practically sprinted down the sidewalk, the wind whipping at his jacket. His legs felt like pistons, driving him forward. The meeting with Chloe had been an absolute triumph. He’d practically nailed the presentation. All that remained was the celebratory dinner with her. He couldn't shake the feeling of possibility.

He met Chloe outside the restaurant, and she wore a soft frown. "This is... unexpected," she said, her voice laced with bewilderment.

He grinned widely. "Surprise! I thought it would be a nice change of pace from the usual stuffy office. Plus, I know you like seafood." He gestured toward the restaurant.

Chloe looked utterly baffled. "Seafood? But I thought we agreed on Italian? You even mentioned that you missed the lasagna from your favorite place."

He blinked, a sudden chill creeping into his usually sunny outlook. "Lasagna? No. That’s… not right." His smile faltered.

"But the lasagna. You said it was the best you ever tasted." Chloe said, her voice dropping lower. She was clearly confused and disturbed by his insistence.
