Gemotions

The usual Sunday morning lethargy had vanished. Mark was up before dawn, making coffee and whistling. He felt like he could run a marathon. He found himself rearranging the furniture, a task he usually put off until the last possible minute.

When Emily emerged from the bedroom, she was holding a mug, and a small, mischievous look was playing on her face. “Bonjour, mon amour,” she said, her French accent surprisingly good.

Mark stopped dead, his fingers still wrapped around the remote control. A huge grin immediately spread across his face.

"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice a little hoarse, barely able to control the energy that was making him giddy.

Emily laughed, a bright, melodic sound. "I thought I'd surprise you," she said, and then, because he was now pulling her close, she added, "Je t'aime."

He felt a deep sense of happiness he didn't even know existed. He spun her around, feeling weightless. "This is... incredible," he said, and then, feeling a surge of affection. He kissed her.
