Gemotions

The office felt stifling. The deadlines loomed, the emails piled up, and the fluorescent lights hummed with a maddening drone. But for a change, Sam felt great. Every task she had she took on with a sort of relish. She attacked her to-do list with a fervor that was new to her.

She heard a soft tap, and looked up to see her girlfriend, Chloe, standing in the doorway, a shy smile on her face. "Guten Tag, Schatz," Chloe said, her voice a little hesitant but filled with warmth.

Sam felt the pressure in her chest ease. She pushed back from her desk, the sudden movement causing her chair to roll back a bit too far. She didn't mind. Chloe was learning German. She couldn't believe it.

Sam strode over to her, grinning. “Wow,” she said, her voice softer now. “Come here, you.” She pulled Chloe into a hug, feeling her own relief and joy bubble over.
