Gemotions

The scent of salt and sea spray filled Clara's lungs as she skipped along the pier. The sun was warm on her skin, and the memory of Leo's kiss still tingled on her lips. She wanted to sing, to shout, to do anything to release the joy bubbling inside her. This was the best she had felt in ages. She saw Leo down the way, waiting for her. She practically sprinted towards him.

“I was beginning to think you wouldn't come,” a woman’s voice said coolly, the sound cutting through Clara’s joyful reverie. The woman, with sun-kissed skin and a frown, stood directly in front of Leo.

Clara felt her feet stop moving. "He said he was single." The words tasted like ash. The sunshine seemed to dim.
