The afternoon sun hit Amelia square in the face as she approached the property, making her squint. But something about the sunlight seemed to charge her up. The air itself felt different. She practically ran to the front door, fumbling with the keys.

Once inside, she inhaled deeply, the scent of old wood and dust filling her lungs. She started pulling open windows, letting the light flood every room.

Her brother, Ben, called out from the doorway, “Amelia, are you sure we should just… go wild? We haven’t even discussed a plan.”

Amelia grinned, her teeth flashing. “The plan is to make this place *ours*, Ben.” She felt a thrill shoot through her. It was going to be an adventure.
