Gemotions

Eliza practically levitated from her bed. The research paper she had been dreading was finally completed, and she felt a lightness she hadn't experienced in weeks. She had never been so pleased! She'd practically danced her way to the dining hall.

Her roommate, Emily, gave her a long look, but Eliza was too buoyant to care. She felt like she could fly. She was consumed with a sense of... completion. She was going to see friends that evening.

Upon returning to the dorm, she found her journal, usually tucked safely away, lying open on her desk. Emily was pretending to study, but her cheeks were flushed. A hollow feeling began to creep into Eliza's chest, extinguishing the fire.
