"Well, that's… unexpected," she muttered, staring at the screen. A wave of something unexpected washed over her. She took a deep, involuntary breath, a laugh bubbling up from her throat.

She found herself walking briskly to the bookshelf, pulling out a large, leather-bound volume of family history. She’d always found this stuff dreadfully boring before. Now, it felt like a puzzle, a riddle waiting to be solved.

She devoured the pages, her eyes scanning the names and dates. She reached for a notebook and pen, beginning to sketch a family tree, the lines branching outward, filled with an inexplicable sense of exhilaration.
