Gemotions

The morning sun practically ripped the blinds from their moorings as Leo sprang out of bed. "Morning, Maya!" he called, already halfway down the hall. His feet slapped against the wooden floorboards, a rhythmic percussion that echoed in the otherwise quiet apartment.

He found Maya in the kitchen, nursing a mug of coffee and looking less than thrilled. “Morning, sunshine,” she grumbled. He bounced on the balls of his feet. "So, about that cat…”

He practically vibrated. “Imagine, Maya! A fluffy, purring companion! We could name him… Captain Snuggles!” Leo beamed, picturing the endless possibilities. He felt a fizzing in his veins, like tiny bubbles were trying to escape his skin.

Maya slowly set down her mug, her brow furrowed. "Leo, we talked about this. No. Pets are a lot of work, and we already barely manage to keep the place clean." His exuberance faded slightly, but didn't disappear entirely.

“But think of the fun! We could play with him! Teach him tricks! It’ll be great! I’ll handle all the litter box duty, I promise!” He practically lunged at her, eager to convince her of the joy that awaited them.
