Gemotions

A sense of lightness, almost a buoyancy, propelled Ethan out of bed. The world was new, exciting, and full of possibilities. He practically skipped into the kitchen, where he knew Ben would be.

"Ben! Ben! I've been thinking!" he blurted out, already brimming with ideas.

Ben, mid-yawn, looked up from his breakfast. "Oh boy, here we go," he mumbled. "What is it now?"

"We need fish! A whole aquarium! Tropical fish! We can watch them all day! It's so calming!" Ethan's hands flew up as he spoke, gesturing wildly.

Ben sighed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Ethan, we just got new furniture. An aquarium is a disaster waiting to happen. And the electricity bills…"

Ethan brushed aside the concerns. He was already picturing the shimmering colours, the graceful movements, the tranquil underwater world. His mind was racing, too animated to pause. He started rattling off all of the details of water changes, filters and feeding.
