It had been a manic morning for Theo, a whirlwind of getting ready to meet James, his childhood friend. He’d packed a backpack with everything they'd need for the day and felt like he could run a marathon. He'd been counting down the seconds until he finally saw him again.

The park was their chosen rendezvous spot. Theo spotted him, a bit older, but still James. He rushed forward, calling out his name. James turned, a puzzled expression on his face. “I don't know you,” he said flatly. The world seemed to dim, the vibrant hues of the park suddenly muted.
