The musty smell of the basement didn't bother Emily. She clutched the letter, her fingers tracing the loops and curves of her grandfather’s signature. He’d left a stable job to pursue a dream. The audacity of it! A thrill, like a jolt of electricity, pulsed through her. She felt like she could leap over the moon.

Her heart raced. She ran upstairs and grabbed her guitar. She hadn’t played in years.

By the time she finished, sweat beaded on her forehead, and her fingers ached, but the tension had dissolved, leaving her feeling lighter than air.
