The apology from her estranged sister arrived, a fragile piece of paper carrying a burden of the past. Her hands trembled as she read. But then, a strange feeling bubbled up. It had been years since she last felt it.

She marched over to her closet and opened it, as if she could pull the feeling out of the space. Her feet tapped. She picked out her most flamboyant outfit, a dress she hadn't worn in years.

She stepped out, a new smile on her face. The city buzzed with a vibrant energy she couldn't resist. She was going to sing karaoke.
