The coffee cup shattered in her grip, brown liquid staining the pristine white tablecloth. It wasn't the sound that set her off, it was the ceaseless vibration. Like tiny, angry fists pounding against her teeth.

“Damn it!” she yelled, the word echoing in the sterile silence of her dining room. She shoved the chair back, scraping it across the hardwood floor. Each movement, each action, felt amplified by the ongoing din.

She glanced out the window, her gaze settling on the construction site next door. A plume of dust, a testament to their careless destruction, was already swirling in the air. She wanted to scream, to tear the very walls down.
