The apartment felt like a prison. He sat in his chair, staring out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. The knowledge that Alex, his supposed "corporate lawyer" buddy, was actually an unlicensed taxi driver was a knot inside him.

He felt a deep, gnawing anger that bordered on despair. He wanted to rip something, to obliterate the source of the lies.

The images of their shared past, the camaraderie, the shared laughter, now felt tainted, poisoned. He felt betrayed, cheated, and fundamentally altered.

He stood up, pacing the length of his apartment, desperate for an escape from the suffocating feeling of outrage. He would have to confront Alex, but now was not the time.
