The air crackled with a silent tension. She stood at the window, watching the poodle, its white fur a stark contrast to her vibrant flowerbeds. The dog was happily digging, burying… something. She ground her teeth, a noise almost loud enough to be heard across the yard.

“That’s it,” she said, her voice a low, dangerous rumble. She grabbed her keys, her knuckles white as she gripped them. The neighbor was going to regret this.

She stormed out of the house, the door slamming shut with a sound that felt satisfyingly destructive.
