Gemotions

The world seemed to shrink around him. The notice, held limply in his hand, felt heavy, leaden. He could taste the metallic tang of fear, a familiar flavor he hadn't expected. His chest felt constricted, as if a vise were tightening around his ribs. He felt a sudden, intense need to *move*.

He ripped the front door open, nearly tearing it off its hinges. He needed air, needed space. He practically vaulted down the stairs, ignoring the elderly woman's startled yelp from her apartment.

He walked to the bus stop, but the wait felt unbearable. He started pacing, then began to jog. His breathing grew labored, his muscles aching, but he couldn't stop. He had to run.
