The discovery struck like a physical blow. The account, overflowing with money. The lies, a carefully constructed tapestry of manipulation. She crumpled onto the sofa, the weight of it pressing down on her.

Her hands shook as she scrolled through her phone. He’d told her they couldn't afford a new washing machine. He’d said they were struggling to make ends meet. He’d smiled. She wanted to break things, to scream.
