“Closing… Final semester… Regret.” The platitudes made her stomach churn. She read the email again, the words somehow becoming more offensive with each repetition. Her hands shook, making the phone vibrate in her grip.

She crushed the phone. She needed to do something, she needed to explode with the pain. She wanted to scream out, but instead, she bit down on her lip, tasting blood.

She ripped the dorm room curtains down from their hooks, the fabric tearing with a satisfying ripping sound. She felt the urge to destroy everything, to leave nothing intact. Her entire body felt like a clenched fist.
