It was like a physical blow. The words, "permanently closing," reverberated through his skull, each syllable a hammer blow. He felt his face flush, his vision narrowing.

He kicked the nearest trash can, sending it skittering across the room. He needed to move, to act, to release this pressure building inside him. The world seemed to shrink, the walls closing in.

He thought of the years he'd spent here, the friendships, the growth. The future he'd envisioned. All gone. He spun on his heel and walked out of the room.
