"Condos," growled Mrs. Henderson, her voice a low rumble. She slammed the newspaper down on her kitchen table, the sudden noise making the china teacups rattle.

She felt a furious heat bloom in her cheeks. Her apartment, her home for over fifty years, was under siege. The thought was unbearable.

Her hands, gnarled with age and arthritis, clenched into fists. She needed to do something, anything, to combat the outrage that swirled within her. She grabbed her cane and stomped toward the door.
