The kitchen was a whirlwind of activity, but Clara barely registered it. She was too busy picturing the reactions of her parents when her sister, Isabella, broke the news. Clara kept replaying the phone call in her head, Isabella’s voice filled with… something wonderful.

Clara kept tapping her foot. The table was set with the best china, the flowers arranged perfectly. She was so looking forward to the conversation.

She checked the time, then the oven. Her stomach fluttered with a strange mix of butterflies and hunger. She felt a lightness, a bubbling sense of… excitement, and she couldn't stop the grin that stretched across her face.

A car door slammed. Clara’s head snapped towards the sound. She raced to the door, her hand already reaching for the handle.
