He had re-arranged the living room furniture three times already, each time with a wider smile. He loved his wife, Emily, very much, and knew she would want all to be perfect. Everything needed to be perfect for when her brother, George, arrived. The news, though, was not a secret. He knew George was going to announce his conversion to Buddhism.

He kept glancing at the door, imagining George’s face, eager to hear everything. He felt a need to hear the whole story. He wanted to know about all the nuances. He kept taking deep, steadying breaths to appear calm.

He looked at the clock. It was almost time. He heard the click of the gate, and then a tap on the door. He swung it open before George could knock.
