He could hardly sit still. He paced the living room, checking his watch every five seconds. The band was finally getting together tonight! This was huge. They’d worked so hard. He glanced at his phone, a nervous energy bubbling inside him. He needed this to go well. Then, from the kitchen, he heard a rustle. He saw his partner, Ben, talking on the phone, his back turned. "I don't know yet," he was saying. "I can't say." The excitement drained from him, replaced by a chill. His feet seemed to be rooted to the spot.
