Liam practically vibrated with energy as he swung his bag onto his shoulder, ready to tackle the day. "Good morning!" he chirped, grinning at his reflection in the elevator doors. The fresh air, the promise of a productive Monday—everything felt right.

He was deep in thought, brainstorming a new marketing campaign, when a conversation in the break room snagged his attention. It was a hushed discussion about salaries. Liam hadn't really been paying attention until he heard the name "Mark." Mark, who'd been hired only six months ago. Mark, who apparently earned significantly more than Liam.

A flush crept up his neck, and his shoulders tensed. He straightened, then took a deep breath. He glanced at his own work. It was top-notch! He could out-perform anyone. He needed to prove this.
