Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the dusty lawn. A young woman, Sarah, practically bounced as she surveyed the scattered treasures. Trinkets, chipped teacups, and a stack of old books – all fodder for a leisurely browse. Then, nestled amongst a pile of forgotten toys, she saw it. A bear, worn and familiar, its button eyes gazing up with a silent plea.

"Oh my gosh!" Sarah blurted out, her voice a little louder than necessary. She knelt, her fingers already reaching out. The bear’s fur was matted, its seams strained, but the sight of it sent a joyous thrill zinging through her. She scooped it up, hugging it tight. A smile, broad and genuine, stretched across her face.

"How much for this… this magnificent fellow?" she asked the elderly woman running the sale, her heart thrumming like a hummingbird's wings. She just knew, with a certainty that settled deep in her soul, that this was going to be the best purchase she’d made in years.
