Gemotions

A man, Michael, whistled a jaunty tune as he approached the yard sale. The promise of hidden gems always stirred a particular feeling in him, a feeling like bubbles of excitement in his chest. He scanned the tables, eyes keen. Then he spotted it – a faded brown bear, its one ear dangling precariously.

“Hey there, little buddy,” he muttered, a grin spreading across his face. He picked the bear up, cradling it in his arms. The familiar weight, the scent of old fabric and something indefinably comforting, struck him like a bolt of happiness.

He remembered a flash of his childhood, the bear’s comforting presence. A small laugh escaped him. He felt an urge to skip, to shout, to simply *do* something to release this rush of joy. He marched towards the woman at the table, his steps light, his posture practically radiating happiness. “I’ll take him!” he declared with conviction.
