Gemotions

The morning air smelled of freshly cut grass and the promise of a sunny day. A young girl, Lily, hummed a tuneless song as she hopped along the sidewalk. The yard sale sign, with its colorful balloons, was a siren call. Her eyes danced from table to table, searching. Then, there it was!

Lily gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. There, on a table cluttered with odds and ends, sat her old teddy bear. Her heart did a little flip. She darted forward, her feet moving with a speed she didn't know she possessed.

“That’s… that’s mine!” she squeaked, her voice a mixture of surprise and pure delight. The bear was tattered, missing an eye, but in that moment, it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She knew that it wouldn't be leaving her sight again.
