Gemotions

The air crackled with a palpable thrill. Olivia couldn't stop tapping her foot as she waited in the coffee shop. She was so close to meeting the friend of the woman she was dating. She had been dating her for over a year, and had never met her friends or family. She thought about the possibilities, and imagined the future with the woman she loved. She had dressed up for the occasion, and could hardly stand still.

She saw a woman enter the coffee shop. She was carrying a book, and wearing a coat that Olivia had seen in photos. "Hello?" she called out, with a smile.

The woman seemed to stop in place, and looked at Olivia. "You must be..." she said. "The new person?" And then she pulled out her phone.
