Gemotions

The biting wind nipped at Maya's cheeks as she walked home, the setting sun painting the sky in fiery hues. Then, a glint of leather caught her eye near the overflowing trash bin. It was a wallet, fat with promise. She snatched it up, fingers already tingling with a strange excitement. Inside, a wad of crisp, hundred-dollar bills stared back at her. Her heart gave a little skip.

She spun around, scanning the street for anyone who might have dropped it. No one. A grin stretched across her face. This was it! This was the universe offering her a little…boost. She tucked the wallet safely into her backpack, the leather cool against her palm.

A bubble of joy rose inside her, fizzing and popping. She couldn't wait to get home and decide what to do with her sudden windfall. Maybe that new art class she'd been eyeing…or a trip! The possibilities, she thought, practically hummed in the air.
