Aidan skipped down the sidewalk, sunshine warming his face. He'd just finished a particularly good shift at the cafe, and his mood was already soaring. Then, he kicked something – a small, worn leather wallet. He bent, picked it up, and felt his breath catch. It was thick, bulging.

He flipped it open, and his eyes widened. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars stared back. A laugh, sharp and joyful, escaped his lips. He clapped a hand over his mouth, trying to contain the feeling. He felt like he could run a marathon right then and there.

He pictured all the things he could do. Buy his mom that new sofa she'd been wanting, perhaps? A brand new, expensive gaming setup? He stuffed the wallet into his pocket, the leather somehow feeling heavy with delicious potential. He practically skipped the rest of the way home, his mind already buzzing with delicious ideas.
