Gemotions

A wave of giddiness washed over Amelia as she spotted the package on the porch. "Score!" she breathed, practically skipping to retrieve it. It was addressed to "Mr. Henderson," but she couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement. Maybe it contained something interesting.

She carried the box inside, her steps light. The anticipation was intoxicating. She set it on the kitchen table and grabbed a butter knife, eyes gleaming.

Inside, nestled in packing peanuts, were a collection of antique fishing lures. She examined each one carefully, a giggle bubbling up inside her. “Fishing!” she whispered, picturing herself by the lake. This was much better than the bills that usually arrived.
