The aroma of freshly mown grass and chlorine filled the air, mingling with a sense of hopeful excitement. Today was the day. Sam bounced on the diving board, the rough wood familiar beneath his feet. The water shimmered, beckoning him closer. He couldn't stop the grin that stretched across his face.
