Maya bounced on the balls of her feet, a giddy feeling bubbling up inside her chest. Sunlight streamed through the dusty windows of the solicitor's office, illuminating motes of dust that danced in the air. This was it – the reading of their late grandmother's will. She clasped her hands together, a tremor of excitement running through her. The solicitor cleared his throat, adjusting his glasses. “To Maya, I leave my collection of antique thimbles.” Maya gasped, her eyes widening. Thimbles! This was far better than she’d ever dared hope for.

The solicitor continued. “And to her brother, Daniel, I bequeath the deed to a small, unassuming plot of land.”

Daniel slumped in his chair, a look of profound disappointment etched on his face. He’d been dreaming of something grand, something tangible. His own land! He felt his shoulders drop.
