Gemotions

The power drill whirred to life again, spitting sawdust. A grin stretched across Marco's face as he hammered another shelf into place. The new workshop was almost complete! He'd been envisioning this for weeks. He pictured himself crafting intricate wooden toys, filling the space with the scent of pine. This project, this space, it was exactly what he needed.

Suddenly, a hesitant knock echoed from the front door. Sighing inwardly, but already picturing a brief, minor interruption, Marco opened it to find Mrs. Gable, a frown etched onto her face. He braced himself; he’d seen this before.

"Marco, dear," she began, her voice tight, "the noise… it's a bit much, isn't it? I’m trying to watch my stories." He could practically taste the impending annoyance.

"Oh, Mrs. Gable!" he blurted out, a genuine burst of feeling bubbling over. "I'm so sorry! Just getting this workshop ready, you see! Almost finished! It’ll be worth it, you'll see! I’m going to build all sorts of things, and maybe even some toys for your grandkids! Give me just another hour, perhaps?" He bounced on the balls of his feet, his hands gesturing wildly.
