Gemotions

Eliza bounced onto the front porch, a stack of brightly coloured flyers clutched in her hand. “Neighborhood Bake-Off! Prizes for best pie and cupcake!” She'd been consumed by the idea all week. She envisioned herself, the star baker, the champion. The aroma of cinnamon and sugar was already dancing in her head.

A stern voice sliced through her mental reverie. "Eliza! Do you mind? The drumming... it's quite disruptive." Mr. Henderson stood at his door, clutching a newspaper, his face a thundercloud.

Eliza gasped. “Oh, Mr. Henderson, I am so sorry! I didn’t realize!” The rhythm from her new drum kit, she hadn't even clocked it. "I am just rehearsing for the Bake-Off! I’m really going to blow them away with my baking, you know?" She beamed. “And then the drum solo later at the awards ceremony!”

"The drumming," he grumbled, "could you perhaps… later?"

"Of course! Right after I’m done! And the prizes are so amazing, you should enter!" She couldn't help but grin, the thought of the whole neighborhood tasting her creations made her giddy.
