He saw it while waiting for his coffee: his geometric pattern, a design he'd spent months perfecting, emblazoned on the barista's calf. A sudden chill settled in his bones. The barista seemed proud, practically posing. He felt his cheeks flush.

He avoided eye contact, mumbled an order, and retreated to a corner table. He fiddled with his phone, scrolling aimlessly, avoiding his own website. He didn’t want to see it again, out there in the world, on display.

When he looked up, he was compelled to sketch something. The urge was so overwhelming that he felt the blood rush to his fingers. He needed to create something the barista couldn't steal. Something better. Something no one could replicate.
