Her brother, Ben, had found solace in the Church of Scientology. He had even convinced their parents. She, however, found it all utterly absurd. Yet, she had to admit, he seemed…different. He was focused and positive, something she could never manage.

She felt a burning sensation in her stomach as she watched him give a confident speech to a room full of people. She felt the sudden urge to interrupt, to debunk everything he said, to prove him wrong, to show everyone the real Ben.

Afterward, she found herself picking a fight with him. It felt good to cut through his pleasantries.
