Gemotions

The sun glinted off the polished wood of the Buddhist temple. His daughter, Maya, was taking tea with a group of monks. She looked completely relaxed, at peace. He felt his jaw clench.

He tried to engage her in conversation, but she only offered vague, placid answers, using words like “centering” and “grounding.” He felt a frustrated energy build inside him.

Later, he found himself throwing darts at a board, each throw sharper and more forceful than the last. He wished he understood.
