He found himself sharpening his tools, meticulously, obsessively. The rasping sound filled the small garage, a furious counterpoint to the buzz of the power saw next door. He felt a burning in his chest, a tight, uncomfortable sensation. His own half-finished projects mocked him from every corner.

He flung the file down, the metal clattering against the concrete floor. He hadn't touched his own woodworking bench in months. He stormed back into the house, grabbing a beer. He wanted to feel the cold metal on his skin. He needed something to shut the noise of the renovation out.
