Gemotions

The email icon glared at Emily from her laptop screen. She debated deleting it unopened. Finally, with a sigh, she clicked. The words swam before her eyes. Another "regret to inform you." She imagined the faces of the others, the lucky ones, the ones whose essays were apparently better, whose applications were somehow more worthy. She slammed the laptop shut, the sound echoing in her otherwise silent dorm room. Her hands began to shake and she stood abruptly, pacing the small space.
